The amount of clothing purchased in Serbia 80.000t year, it is often very questionable quality and composition. In order for clothes to be affordable, they are made of cheap materials – primarily plastic (polyester) and generally have a very short shelf life. Such clothes are equally harmful to the Planet – such as a plastic bottle or bag. The cause is a system of fast fashion trends that places every week, motivating us to acquire new pieces of clothing at cheaper prices.
Green Fest in cooperation with the project „Textile waste is not in fashion“ is organizing a panel discussion on „Are our clothes destroying the Planet?“ on 28th of October 2020 at 6pm. The panel will address the negative consequences of inadequate textile waste management – from water pollution by microplastics to the impact on climate change and resource use, but also to discuss what we can do to change some things for the better.
